A lovely 1930s Model 1209 Anglepoise lamp designed by George Carwardine for Herbert Terry and Sons. Ridditch, England. The lamp has a four spring mechanism, slim steel arms and has the original black paintwork which is beautifully worn and has come away in places adding to its charm. The shade has been stripped at some point in its life but we have decided to leave it as it is as it has great character! There are many marks and imperfections as to be expected from a well used piece and some small dents to the shade. The wall or desk mounted lamp has a cast iron base and is stamped 'The Angelpoise PAT in UK and abroad' just above the base. This model was often referred to as a jeweller's light or draughtsman's lamp due to its extensive reach. In good working condition, the lamp holds its position well and has been PAT tested, a really great lamp!
