A beautiful vintage German Tambour fronted cabinet by Otto Sturm which was used in a factory office in Eastern France. The cabinet is made up of a top section with six adjustable shelves with cut out detail and a lower storage area. There are brackets on the lower section where shelves would have originally been but these were not found with the cabinet. The top has been painted black which is matched with black painted detail to the base. The front tambour runs smoothly and has a lock and key, the original makers plate is on the top left hand side which reads Otto Sturm, Eningen, Achalm. The cabinet is in overall good original condition, there are marks and imperfections as to be expected, some dents to the top and holes in the side where it may have been attached to another unit. We have tried to show these in the photos, a really lovely piece!
Otto Sturm Senior founded the business in the 1800s in the municipality of Eningen near the local mountain Achalm. He started off selling papers and writing utensils to offices. Otto Sturm Junior took over the business in 1932 and specialised in office furniture and supplies, the company still exists today.
